WEDNESDAY: U.S. EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson to Make Significant Announcement Affecting L.A. River
L.A. Mayor Villaraigosa, elected officials, local students to discuss environmental issues at Compton Creek
SAN FRANCISCO—EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson will join federal and state officials at Compton Creek to make a significant announcement affecting the Los Angeles River. In addition, Administrator Jackson will meet with local organizations to discuss management priorities and recreational opportunities at the tributary. Following the announcement, Compton High School Agua University students will engage the Administrator with a water quality testing demonstration at the creek.
WHO: In addition to Administrator Jackson, speakers include Los Angeles Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa, and Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas and representatives from the U.S. Corps of Engineers, the City of Compton, Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority and Heal the Bay.

The access point to the creek is inside the security gate of the hotel staff parking at the rear of the hotel. [Walk, bike or if you must] Drive around the circle to security gate.

Please wear creek friendly shoes . While you won’t get wet, the walk to the bed of the creek is uneven, rocky in places and at a slight grade. The creek bed is muddy in places.
